Choose the right strip brush according to the material’s physical and chemical properties

H/F aluminum alloy brushes, for industrial and household use, are multifunctional sealing brushes suitable for applications in industry, pharmaceuticals, machinery, high-intensity cleaning, and fire-retardant environments. Strip brushes are mainly used as coverings related to moving parts. They insulate doors and windows or help keep the moving components of machines clean. The brush body can be made of steel, aluminum, or plastic, and the filling material can be bristles or wire.

The bristles create an excellent seal that prevents dust, airflow, heat loss, and dirt. Due to their tiny contact area, the bristles have a low friction coefficient and form a nearly wear-free barrier. At the same time, uneven surfaces can glide through the flexible bristles without resistance or damage.
Advantages: high-density cushioning and protective sealing when in contact with other surfaces, wear-free sealing, extreme flexibility, and shape retention.

Strip brushes are widely used in industrial processes for cleaning, polishing, de-scaling, glue scraping, and surface modification. They are made by densely filling bristles into a metal channel and can be applied to workpieces of various materials and shapes. As a specialized processing tool, strip brushes must be selected based on the physical and chemical properties of the material being processed to improve efficiency and quality while ensuring safety during production.

First, it is necessary to understand the hardness and toughness of the material being treated. In practical applications, the material and hardness of the strip brush should match the material being processed. Hard materials require brushes with stiff bristles, while soft or elastic materials require soft or flexible bristles to avoid unintended damage or deformation.

Second, surface conditions and material dispersion must be considered. Oil residues, oxidized layers, and dirt on the surface directly affect the brush’s service life and performance. For extremely rough or irregular surfaces, it is important to select strip brushes with high tensile strength and flexibility that can adapt to uneven textures, allowing the brush to work more effectively.

Third, the hardness of the processed material may affect bristle design parameters. Bristle length and density are naturally related to hardness. When reducing bristle spacing, bristle length may also need to be adjusted. Choosing the right combination based on various processing conditions directly influences the surface-treatment effect.

Fourth, the physical and chemical composition of the material—especially when using a fixed starting point as a reference for comparing the pressure near and far from the brush contact area—must be considered. For multi-component materials, proper sampling and testing provide essential data for determining how the strip brush interacts with the material under specific shaping conditions. Test data must also be formatted through detection equipment to accurately describe the material’s characteristics. Therefore, sampling and testing are critical steps during brush selection.

Overall, selecting the correct strip brush ensures safe and efficient collaboration during processing and helps improve production efficiency and quality. When choosing a strip brush, it is necessary to analyze the physical and chemical characteristics of the material in detail and consult suppliers regarding dimensions, shapes, and material specifications. Selection requirements may differ across processing fields, so choosing the right brush is essential.
